Welcome to Eli Kalel: Architecture, Construction and Interior Design Under One Roof in Ghana

ha7pw Eli Kalel Editorial

If you are building a home in Accra, planning a commercial development, or looking to transform an existing interior into something extraordinary, you have probably already noticed how fragmented the construction industry in Ghana can feel. You hire one firm for architecture, another for construction, and a third for interior design. Each has its own contract, its own timeline, its own agenda — and the result is a project riddled with gaps, miscommunications, and compromises between what was designed and what actually gets built.

Eli Kalel Construction and Architecture was founded specifically to solve this problem.

Who We Are

We are a full-service design-build firm based in Accra, operating from our offices at Atlantic Tower on Liberation Road. Our team brings together licensed architects, experienced construction managers, and professional interior designers who work as one coordinated unit from the first consultation to the final handover.

This is not a common model in Ghana. Most firms specialise in one discipline and subcontract or refer out the rest. At Eli Kalel, the three disciplines are permanently integrated. The architect who designs your home communicates directly and continuously with the construction team building it. The interior designer who plans your living spaces coordinates with the same construction team installing them. There are no handovers between separate companies. There are no gaps where decisions fall through the cracks.

What We Build

Our work spans the full spectrum of residential and commercial construction in Ghana. We have delivered:

  • Luxury residential homes designed from scratch on client land in Accra and beyond, from initial site assessment and architectural concept through structural construction and complete interior fit-out
  • Multi-unit residential developments for developers who need a single firm that can manage the entire process to a consistent standard across every unit
  • Commercial interiors and fit-outs for offices, hospitality spaces, and retail environments where the quality of the environment directly affects how clients and customers perceive the business
  • Renovation and upgrade projects where existing structures are transformed through strategic construction works and interior redesign

Every project, regardless of size, receives the same level of professional supervision, the same quality of materials, and the same commitment to delivering what we promised.

Our Approach to Quality

Quality at Eli Kalel is not a marketing phrase. It is a set of enforced practices that run through every stage of every project we undertake.

Before construction begins, we produce a comprehensive Bill of Quantities — a detailed document listing every material, every labour item, and every cost component of your project. You review and approve this before we break ground. There are no surprise invoices partway through construction, because every significant cost was identified and agreed in advance.

During construction, a dedicated site supervisor is assigned to your project. This person is present on site daily. They conduct stage inspections, manage subcontractors, enforce our quality standards, coordinate material deliveries, and provide you with regular photographic progress reports. You are never left wondering what is happening on your site.

After handover, we provide complete as-built documentation, material specifications, supplier contacts, and applicable warranties. We do not disappear after the final payment. Long-term relationships with our clients are something we have built our reputation on.

Why Architecture and Interior Design Matter as Much as Construction

A well-constructed building that was poorly designed is still a poor result. A beautifully designed building that is badly built is a failure. And a building with excellent architecture and solid construction but a poorly executed interior is an opportunity wasted.

This is why Eli Kalel insists on integrating all three disciplines. The quality of the final space depends equally on the intelligence of its design, the precision of its construction, and the refinement of its interior. When one firm controls all three, the standard that was set at the design stage is the standard that is maintained through to handover.

Our architects design spaces that are not only structurally sound and code-compliant but genuinely beautiful. Clean lines, considered proportions, thoughtful natural light, and materials that age with dignity. Our interior designers create environments that are refined and liveable — spaces that serve the people who use them as well as they impress the people who visit.

Building in Ghana: What We Understand That Others Miss

Ghana has a construction market unlike most others. The climate demands different material choices, different roof designs, different thermal strategies than what works in Europe or North America. The supply chain has its own characteristics. The regulatory environment, while improving, has unique requirements that need to be navigated with local knowledge.

At Eli Kalel, we combine international design and construction standards with deep, practical knowledge of what works in Ghana. We have built in Accra’s humid coastal climate and in the drier conditions further north. We know which suppliers consistently deliver quality materials and which do not. We know how to design spaces that stay cool without excessive air conditioning, that manage rainwater effectively, and that endure the specific stresses of the Ghanaian environment over time.

This combination of international standard and local knowledge is one of the things that most clearly distinguishes our work.
